The Internet erupted on Sunday night after Nicki Minaj was seen clutching the front of her little black dress during the VMA-opening performance of "Bang Bang," with many speculating that the 

"Anaconda" singer had experienced a major wardrobe malfunction. Did she? Didn't she? The public (and this reporting pool) was so confused about the situation that the term #DidNicki actually trended on Twitter shortly after the drama went down.

So what actually happened? 

"We ran out of time getting the dressed zipped up," the performer said backstage later in the show. 

And, uh, there we have it. Now, whatever happened to Amelia Earhart?
